As a very old village, rich in tradition and popular festivities, Gangi
developed in the 14th century around the castle of Francesco Ventimiglia.
The following can be visited: the imposing Ventimiglia tower and the Chiesa
Madre in which you can find valuable paintings by G Salerno, otherwise
known as the cripple of Gangi (1629). Besides these, there is the
Church of the Chain, San Cataldo, the Ventimiglia castle and the Palazzo
Bongiorno with frescoes by Fumagalli to be seen. Not far from
here you can find the ex-Benedictine dellAnnunziata monastery
which dates back to the 16th century and which is known as Gangi Vecchio,
today an agritouristic centre with restaurant.
