To rent an apartment in Geraci Siculo old medieval village in the natural park of Madonie, heart of Sicily, represents a strategic choice to spend the holidays in the middle of a forest on the mountains or along the sea.
It is a perfect choice and original too, since it is possible to receive a 'home made' touristic hospitality, with the local peoples warmth.
Having Geraci Siclulo as a basic place to stay it will be possible to easily organize daily excursions in the nearby well known places like Cefalù, Taormina, volcano Etna, le gole dell'Alcantara, Castelbuono, Gangi, Petralia Soprana, Petralia Sottana, Pollina and S. Stefano di Camastra.
Beside the excursions, the village offers you many interesting possibilities.
It is an ancient medieval village at the height of 1070 metres above the sea, but only 37 km far from it.  Only a few striking ruins of the old castle remain and the little church of Sant’Anna which was the Palatine Chapel of the Ventimiglia family.  Paintings attributed to Gagini and various objects of religious art are kept inside the church which is characterized by its interesting Romanesque-Gothic architecture.  A large ‘falconiera’ (a roost for falcons) has been reconstructed in the centro storico (historical centre) of the village in order to train and breed hawks used in hunting.
To be visited also the Museum of the Madonie rich of animal and vegetal tracks of the Park and the Cappuccini Monastry
The Saracen water-trough is also very interesting as its water has a low mineral content.
In the summer period the Festivals of the Ear of Wheat and the ‘Burgisi’ (the Well-Off) – ancient propitiatory and pagan events – are celebrated.
