
Situated midway between Geraci Siculo and Cefalu is reached going through
a kork forest.
Of Byzantine origin (Ypsigro means a cool place), Castelbuono
developed in the 14th century alongside the Ventimiglia family.
The area is characterised by having substantial forests of manna-bearing
ash which is still collected and sold today. Places to visit include
, the Minà Palumbo museum and the Madrice Vecchia (a church).
